Bill graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science. After managing Autauga Farming Company, a large, diversified family farm in Autauga County, Ala. for 44 years, Lipscomb retired in February 2019. Bill is also a third-generation cattleman who, with his family, owns and manages 3L Ranch, a cow-calf operation near Prattville, Ala. with 100 head of fall-calving brood cows. He is the president of Producer’s Feeder Calf Sale, a sale of farm-fresh feeder cattle the first Wednesday in August of each year launched by the Autauga Farming Company in 1980.

Bill is a past president and lifetime director of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, a past president and board member of the Alabama Farmer’s Federation and past president and current board member of the Alabama Beef Cattle Improvement Association. He currently serves on the Southeastern Livestock Exposition board, and he has also served on the Export Growth Committee of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), a contractor to the Beef Checkoff. Lipscomb was also recently inducted into the Alabama Livestock Hall of Fame.
