Position: Chief Executive Officer

Greg Hanes was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He holds a master’s degree in international management with an emphasis in marketing from the Thunderbird School of Management, as well as a B.A. in economics from Colorado College. Greg brings over 25 years of experience supporting the beef industry, including nearly two decades at the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF). He served as the USMEF Director in Tokyo, Japan, where he lived for nearly 12 years, and later as Vice President of International Marketing Programs in Denver, leading global strategic marketing efforts and serving as a key liaison to national and state beef organizations.

Greg recently celebrated his six-year anniversary with the Cattlemen’s Beef Board. Outside of work, he enjoys the mountains and outdoor activities like skiing, fishing, and hiking. A fun fact: while living in Tokyo, more people lived within view of his apartment building than the entire population of Wyoming! Greg’s love for beef extends to all cuts, with a special passion for Japanese-style grilled beef tongue. His mother’s German heritage also inspires his appreciation for beer and Christmas markets.
