A fifth-generation rancher who received his first cow as a gift before he was born, Charles attended South Dakota State University, where he earned a degree in animal science with minors in ag marketing, range and pasture management, and agronomy. Today, he is owner/operator of Maude Hog & Cattle, a diversified farm and cow/calf and hog ranch. He is a member of Farm Bureau and R-CALF, director of the SD Stockgrowers Assoc., and served as fire chief for his local volunteer fire department.
