Hired as the financial compliance manager for the Beef Board in August 2014, Dean Oyster brought more than 30 years of experience in internal-audit and accounting management -- both with public and nonprofit organizations -- to the beef checkoff. That includes nearly 15 years as internal audit manager for Health Management Associates in Naples, Fla., about six years as an accounting manager for Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville, North Carolina, and other accounting and controller positions prior to that. As financial compliance officer for the Beef Board, Dean's responsibilities include monitoring of Qualified State Beef Councils and contractors, as well as assisting with collection-point audits. Dean grew up in farm country in Ohio and holds bachelors and masters degrees in accounting from the University of Akron. In his work, Dean says he emphasizes integrity, team building, organization of work flow and processes, and attention to detail. He is an avid fan of baseball and plays golf as often as possible. Dean and his wife, Rhonda, live in Aurora, Colorado and have two daughters, two sons-in-law and three grandchildren.
