Courtney Kalous (pronounced "klouse", rhymes with house) joined the Beef Board staff in December 2008, after five years at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, where she served as director of member services. At the Beef Board, Courtney served as director of collections compliance from 2008 until May 2012, when she moved into her current position as director of evaluation and state relations. Courtney manages plans and budgets related to checkoff program evaluation and key partner relationships. This involves writing and executing plans of work, including budgets, for the evaluation and state-relations functions of the Beef Board, in addition to serving as a resource for the Operating Committee, the Joint Evaluation Committee, and checkoff program managers. Courtney is an alumnus of Colorado State University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in agriculture business and a minor in economics. She hails from western Colorado, where her family raises alfalfa, corn, wheat and barley, and owns and operates a backgrounding feedlot, a trucking company, and a small cow-calf herd. She lives in Strasburg, Colorado, with her husband, Tod, who is an analyst for Cattle-Fax, and their sons, Colton and Dawson. Her hobbies include helping her family and inlaws with farming and cattle production.
