The checkoff has developed a web-based software technology platform, named BeefTracker, to demonstrate how farmers and ranchers balance environmental responsibility, economic opportunity, and social diligence across their operations, while providing data to populate the beef sustainability lifecycle assessment. During the last four months, cow-calf producers and key academic advisors were introduced to BeefTracker to beta test the software platform and verify its potential as a sustainability tool. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with beta testers suggesting that it has significant potential to be the first software solution to incorporate both land and cattle management in one platform. Since cattle farmers and ranchers balance more than environmental responsibility, the BeefTracker platform will remain in beta as production capabilities are tested and additional sustainability elements are added.
