Ken Blight operates a feedlot in Albion, Michigan, which also farms corn, soybean, and wheat and raises hogs. He was nominated to the Cattlemen's Beef Board by the Michigan Cattlemen's Association and appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to begin service on the Board in 2016. After graduating from Michigan State University with an animal-husbandry degree, Ken returned home to improve and grow his family's feedlot operation. Originally working with his dad and brother, the feedlot now has grown to include a niece and nephew -- raising hogs, farrow to finish, as well as growing corn, soybeans and wheat. Ken has been active in agriculture and his community over the years, including service as the chairman of the Farm Bureau's Natural Resources and Environment Committee; as a member of the Michigan Cattlemen's Association Board and the Michigan Beef Industry Commission; a member of the Knights of Columbus; and the advisory council of the Michigan Agricultural Environment Assurance Program.
