Brian is feedlot operator from Nevada, Iowa, where he and his wife, Deborah, also raise corn and soybeans on Brian & Deb Sampson Farms. They farm about 1,500 acres and run about 1,500 head of cattle through their feedlot each year. In addition, they test prototype technology and equipment for Precision Planting. Brian was appointed to the Beef Board by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture in 2014. He also is a member of the Story County Cattlemen's Association, the Story County/Iowa Farm Bureau, and is an environmental science consultant for Iowa State University in Ames. In addition, Brian is a member of the Key Cooperative Board of Directors; is an elected member of the Howard Township Board of Trustees; serves as a trustee at Salem Lutheran Church; and is a former member of the Roland-Story Community School District, including two years as its president. Brian's honors include being named as Story County Cattleman of the Year in 2006 and winner of the Gary Wegin Good Farm Neighbor Award -- recognizing Iowa livestock farmers who take pride in doing things right -- in 2011.
