Dan has been in the cattle business all his life. He along with his dad and brother have continuously owned and maintained a herd of performance based Purebred Hereford cattle for more than 70 yrs. Currently, he and his wife Ann own a diversified cattle and horse operation. Their enterprises focus on top quality genetics. They develop affordable cattle that will serve the needs of other seed stock and commercial cattle breeders. Dan spends his time searching out superior genetics to develop bulls for other breeders. Following his years in academia Dan was on staff at National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Denver, as director of producer programs. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Beef Improvement Federation and as a member of the US Beef Breeds Council. He served on the PA Hereford Association Board of Directors as secretary, Pennsylvania Cattlemen’s Association Board of Directors, Editor of the Keystone Cattlemen’s magazine and as a member of the Beef Expo Committee. Dan is also employed with Penn State University. He serves the industry as the cow calf beef extension specialist, in addition he teaches several courses in Animal Science: Beef Production, Advanced Beef production, has coached the livestock judging team is an advisor to the PSU Block and Bridle Club and the Collegiate Cattlewomen’s club. His interest in the cattle industry focuses on cost of production and reproduction.
