Norman and his brother Jim own and, along with Norman’s son Kyle, operate a 7th generation grain and beef cattle farm in south central Indiana, near Martinsville.

Norman graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science from Purdue University and an M.S. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Ruminant Nutrition.

Returning to the home farm after graduation, Norman began volunteering and continues to serve in various capacities for Agriculture organizations. Locally, he has served on the Morgan County Fair Board, the Morgan County Extension Board, the Morgan County Beef Cattle Association, Morgan County Farm Bureau and the Morgan County Farm Service Agency County Committee. Statewide, he has served on the Purdue University Council on Agriculture, Research, Extension and Teaching, the Purdue University Dean of Agriculture’s Advisory Committee, the Indiana Beef Evaluation Program and the Indiana Beef Cattle Association. He is also a charter member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, having served on the Tax and Credit committee.

In 2016, Norman was nominated to serve on the Cattlemen’s Beef Board by the Indiana Beef Cattle Association, the Indiana Farm Bureau, the Indiana Dairy Farmers of America, and the Indiana Farmers Union and was appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture Vilsac to begin his initial term in 2017. In 2019, he was again nominated by the Indiana Beef Cattle Association and the Indiana Farm Bureau and was appointed to begin his 2nd term in 2020 by Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.

Norman and his wife Jana are the proud parents of son Kyle, daughter Megan and grandparents to Kyle’s son, Miles.
