Wallace "Wally" Schulthess was nominated to the Cattlemen's Beef Board by a caucus of the Utah Cattlemen's Association, Utah Farm Bureau Federation, Utah Cattlewomen Association and Utah Dairy Council. He and his wife, Jeanette, own Triangle Cattle Co., a cow-calf ranch located in northern Utah and southwest Wyoming. Their multi-generational ranch has helped raise four daughters, two sons and 17 grandchildren. Their sons are currently involved on the ranch along with their families to carry on the ranching tradition. Wally has served as president of both the Utah Cattlemen’s Association and the Utah Beef Council and has always volunteered for his community and church. In 1987, he started a part-time, 28-year career as a special function officer/brand inspector for the State of Utah and collected the Beef Checkoff assessment from producers in the area and educated them about how their checkoff dollars help the beef community. Wally was the first rancher in Utah to receive his Masters of Beef Advocacy (MBA) training through the checkoff, a program that greatly improved his skills to communicate about beef and the beef community. His family is proud to have their ranch Beef Quality Assurance-certified through the checkoff's Beef Quality Assurance program.
