Larry was nominated to the Cattlemen's Beef Board by the Mississippi Farm Bureau and Mississippi Cattlemen's Association, and he was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to begin his first term on the Board in 2016. He is a fourth-generation rancher and retired industrial electrician who currently runs a cow-calf and stocker operation in Soso, Mississippi. He has long been active in beef organizations, including service as past president of Jones County Jr. Livestock; member and past president of Jones County Cattlemen's Association; five years on the Mississippi Cattlemen's steering committee and a year as president of the association; long-time member of National Cattlemen's Beef Association and former Region II president of the Federation of State Beef Council; and 15 years as a member and past president of the Mississippi Beef Council, including four years as a Federation director for the council. Larry is a member and past president of the Jones County Farm Bureau; board member for the Mississippi Farm Bureau and member of its Beef Commodity Committee; and a member and past president of the Mississippi Beef Council. Larry also is a member of the First Baptist Church of Soso.
