Justin and his wife, Ellen, co-own and operate their cow-calf, feeder and row crop farm, R & H Land & Cattle, with Ellen’s father, Lyle Hopkins, in Northwestern Illinois. The farm consists of 85 head of “mama cows” and 110 steers and heifers, as well as 1,200 acres of corn, soybeans, rye and alfalfa. The Rahns also own and operate R & H Seed Solutions, providing farmers throughout the area with cover crop seeds, as well as Channel corn and soybeans.
A graduate of Kirkwood Community College, Justin serves on the Illinois Beef Checkoff Board and is involved with the Illinois Beef Association and the Carroll County Farm Bureau’s Young Leader group, where he educates the public on the need for agriculture and the next generation of farm leaders. He has also attended the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) convention as a delegate on policy committees. In 2018, the Rahns received the Illinois Farm Bureau’s Excellence in Agriculture Award.
