Joyce Bupp, Pennsylvania

Bupplynn Farms located in southern Pennsylvania is home to Joyce and Leroy Bupp, who own and manage a 175-cow dairy herd and a 40-head steer-finishing operation. Joyce understands the value of the beef checkoff in sharing the health benefits of beef with dietitians, retailers and foodservice operators along with consumers.

“Our beef checkoff investment supports a variety of public relations programs including traditional in-store demonstrations, a booth at the Boston Marathon and programs where we share the latest beef nutritional research results with key health professionals,” says Joyce. “One of my favorites is the ‘I heart Beef’ campaign held during the traditionally slower beef sales months of February and March. This campaign encourages consumers to feel good about the wholesome, lean beef that they love.

“As producers, we’re focused on raising safe, wholesome beef ¯ and that’s where the beef checkoff comes in,” continues Joyce. “For every dollar, we invest in the checkoff, independent research has shown a $5 return on our investment in advertising and promotions, which works to increase consumer demand for beef and means added value and more returns to our dairy.”
