- Setting the Record Straight – When a new documentary claiming to “expose” modern production agriculture hit theatres, the beef checkoff quickly stepped in with the facts. Responses to “Food, Inc.” included third-party letters to the San Francisco Chronicle, Newsweek and New York Times, and to a “Good Morning America” piece about the movie. - Helping Build Dietary Guidelines – Beef checkoff dollars help educate members of the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) – which is reviewing the published science and developing technical recommendations for the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans – about the role of beef as part of a healthy diet. - Sharing Best Practices– At the third “Governor's Conference on Ensuring Food Safety: E. coli O157:H7 - Progress and Challenges,” the checkoff presented information about Beef Industry Food Safety Council (BIFSCo) programs and initiatives that are disseminating best practice documents and technical information used by industry to enhance safety systems.
