Welcome Farm Bureau Members!
Welcome cattle-industry members of the American Farm Bureau to the home of your Beef Checkoff Program! Thanks for taking the time to learn more about how your beef checkoff investment is helping to build beef demand and increase your opportunities for profit.
Promoting Beef Worldwide
Your beef checkoff invests in promotion to build buyer loyalty to U.S. beef in markets worldwide – a critical link to building beef demand, considering that about 95 percent of the global population lives outside the U.S.
- Maximizing cutout value in Japan – The checkoff is helping fund USMEF efforts in Japan to promote an expanded range of beef cuts. As a result of checkoff efforts, several major restaurant chains also are featuring U.S. steak in new promotional campaigns. For more about these efforts, go to U.S. Beef in Japan.
- Teaching Taiwanese Youth – The beef checkoff funded a “2009 Hottest Little U.S. Cowboy Competition” to promote U.S. beef and teach young Taiwanese “cowboys” and “cowgirls” about the importance of beef as part of a balanced diet. For a photo and more about the contest, go to Cowboy Contest.
- Reestablishing U.S. beef in South Korea — A recent promotion funded in part with beef checkoff dollars featured U.S. short ribs in one of the country’s leading barbeque restaurant chains. During the promotion, sales of U.S. beef from the take-out menu increased by 84 percent, and by 77 percent from the table menu over a comparable 17-day period. For more about checkoff promotions in South Korea, go to South Korea.
