The Kansas Beef Council, Kansas Department of Agriculture and the Kansas agriculture community are joining with Harvesters-The Community Food Network, Kansas Food Bank, Second Harvest Community Food Bank and Dillons Food Stores to present the Neighbor to Neighbor Food Drive through March. The food drive is one of several events planned around the celebration of Kansas Ag Week, March 23-29, and Kansas and National Ag Day March 25. Visit the Neighbor to Neighbor web page to learn more about the food drive and to locate additional donation-collection points in your area.

The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
