2014 Boston Marathon
Contact: , 308-697-3486;
The Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative (NEBPI) is gearing up for the 118th Boston Marathon and is currently looking for runners to join Team Beef. We are asking State Beef Councils to reach out to their Team Beef members and encourage runners, who have qualified for Boston, to sign up with Boston Marathon's Team Beef.
NEPBI will pay a portion of the registration cost and supply runners with a Team Beef running shirt, if they do not already have one. All interested participants are asked to contact Jennifer Orr at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
