U.S. Cattle Producers Lead the Way!

America's Cattle Producers truly lead the way! A couple of key examples: 1) The U.S. supplies 25 percent of the world's beef with 10 percent of the world's cattle, and 2) half of America's cattlemen and women contribute $500 or more a year to local and national charities, and 32% contribute more than $1,000 a year.
The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
