Contact: , 402-856-2097;
Reminder to all cattle farmers, ranchers and importers: All beef checkoff meetings are open to every person who pays the checkoff, free of charge. During the upcoming 2012 Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver, July 25-28, this includes meetings of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB); the Federation of State Beef Councils (Federation) and joint committee meetings that include checkoff representation. We've made it easy for those interested to participate.

The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
