The checkoff’s new digital/online advertising to boost awareness of and “likes/friends” to the checkoff-funded “Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner.” Facebook page are sparking widespread online activation and engagement, led by an additional 35,935 “likes” (aka “fans”) to the page! The ads pose fun questions to consumers, such as “What did the lean filet say to the lean T-Bone?”– which then are answered by hundreds of consumers who are leaving comments that are posted for all their friends to see. This approach amplifies the level of engagement with the checkoff-funded page, as the “Sparkbox” ad becomes “viral,” exponentially spreading across the Facebook universe. The page now has nearly 100,000 followers.
