
Growing Japanese Demand
Monthly education programs for Japanese journalists are aimed at increasing consumer confidence in and demand for U.S. beef. Funded jointly by the beef checkoff and USDA’s Market Access Program, a seminar in December, for example, focused on risk communication and nutrition. It was headlined by speakers from the World Organization for Animal Health (known by then French acronym ‘OIE’) and Tokyo University, both experts on food safety.
