Get To Know Annalynn

Fourth-generation Nevada rancher and Beef Board Member Annalynn Settelmeyer said she considers service to the cattle industry a necessary part of her ranch life.

"Dad always said, 'You're part of the solution or part of the problem,'" Settelmeyer told agricultural writer Chuck Jolley for a recent Drovers CattleNetwork article. "If you're not working on the solution, you can't complain."

A new member of the Beef Board in 2010, Settelmeyer does triple duty between being a mom, working on the family ranch, and serving as a hazardous waste inspector for the state of Nevada. And she's looking forward to being part of the checkoff program's efforts to educate consumers about beef and about ranch life.

"We get to educate the public on how we really operate," she said. "With radical groups like HSUS trying to do away with animal agriculture, we're doing some critical work to inform the public and protect our way of life."
