
Beef Producers Give Back
Funded in part by the beef checkoff, BEEF COUNTS is a multifaceted public-relations and community-service campaign bringing together
USDA guidelines recommend consuming an average of 6 ounces of protein per day, per person, which means an average family of four would need 45 pounds of lean protein per month. Currently, on average, Idaho Foodbank partners are distributing an average of 5 pounds of meat per family per month, which leaves a deficit of almost 500,000 servings of lean protein yearly.
Each calf donated to BEEF COUNTS will provide about 1,600 servings for distribution by The Idaho Foodbank. Local Idaho producers plus the Agri Beef Co. matching contribution, could provide more than 250,000 servings of beef to people in need and concurrently educating consumers about and awareness of the benefits of in a healthy diet.
