Showcasing Beef

Thanks to the beef checkoff, consumers in the Northeast gobbled up more than 8,000 grilled-steak samples and heard positive messages about beef and the beef industry during the 2010 Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show in Washington, D.C. Nov. 13-14. About 25,000 consumers attended the event, which focused on food and entertaining and drew more than 200 exhibitors, including TV cooking icon and beef lover Rachael Ray. The checkoff exceeded expectations for reach, serving more than double the numberf of samples that it did at the 2009 show. About 750 people also were added to the checkoff's weekly Beef So Simple e-newsletter mailing list, and Chef Dave Zino headlined three educational workshops that drew more than 200 people.
