Get to Know Jeanne Harland

Jeanne Harland and her husband A. J. are cow-calf producers on a small, 427 acre farm near LaFayette, Ill. Along with about 100 head of cattle, they also raise corn, soybeans and oats on a place that’s been in the family since 1837. In 1987 it was designated as a Sesquicentennial Farm, honoring 150 years of one family, generation after generation, working to feed America.

Jeanne recently conducted an interview with ag writer Chuck Jolley for CattleNetwork, where she said, “I’ve spent a lot of time doing beef promos in Illinois and I’m always excited about it. I’ve been asked questions like ‘How do you know which cows have steaks and which have hamburger?’ and that says we have a real need for better consumer education.”
