Cattlemen's Beef Board Member Genevieve Lyons of Louisiana says producers need to participate actively in teaching consumers about beef production, in an effort to reconnect urbanites with their agricultural roots.
Genevieve's comments were part of her recent interview with ag writer Chuck Jolley for CattleNetwork. Jolly asked Lyons about the tours that she and her husband, Daniel, conduct on their 1,800-acre cow/calf operation near Church Point, La., as well as about her participation on the Cattlemen's Beef Board.
"Tours are the perfect opportunity to teach," Lyons said. "People have a better appreciation of what we do when they can actually see what goes on."
