A promotion funded in part by the beef checkoff is touting the health benefits and versatility of U.S. beef for Arab consumers. This promotion employs a series of advertisements in leading Pan-Arab family and cooking magazines. The ads explain that U.S. beef is safe, wholesome and offers many affordable options for a delicious center-of-the-plate entree. Through June, U.S. beef exports (including variety meat) to the Middle East totaled 128 million pounds valued at more than $102 million – an increase of 33 percent in volume and 54 percent in value over 2009.
