Beef Safety Workshops
The checkoff-funded annual Beef Industry Safety Summit is the premier forum for all beef industry partners, representing each link in the beef production chain, to share knowledge and discuss issues to ensure continued progress toward meeting the industry’s collective safety goals. On a regional basis, "Addressing Beef Safety Challenges - Midwest Workshops" bring the information and activities of that national Safety Summit to various locations nationwide. The first of these regional workshops, funded in part by the beef checkoff, on addressing beef safety challenges was held in Olathe, Kan., on Dec. 16. Immediately following, more than 15 major ag trade media partners, including Meatingplace, Beef Today and Cattlenetwork, came together for a Webinar to learn more about current beef safety challenges and the multiple resources available to the industry to enhance current safety systems. The information was presented by Dr. Mandy Carr, executive director, Beef Safety Research for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), contractor to the Beef Checkoff Program. Additional follow-up is being conducted with print publications and farm broadcasters.
