Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show

On Nov. 7-8, the beef checkoff participated in the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show, Washington D.C., an event that drew more than 23,000 consumers to learn from culinary experts, including Food Network celebrities. The 4,000 visitors to the beef checkoff booth sampled an easy holiday appetizer idea – grilled, sliced ranch steak in chimichurri marinade served on a tortilla chip with pico de gallo. The ranch steak was an example of the new “marinade on demand” technology marketed by Schwann’s. Before shows by Paula Deen, Tyler Florence and other Food Network stars, consumers also listened to the beef checkoff commercials.

Chef Dave Zino, Beef Culinary Center, presented “Making the Most of Your Holiday Roast” in the Tasting & Entertaining Workshop area, to about 100 people each day. Attendees learned about beef tenderloin applications and the differences between wet and dry marinades. At the conclusion, they sampled “Beef Tenderloin with Easy Cranberry Balsamic Sauce” with help from the National Beef Ambassador Team.
