Facts From Farmers
The checkoff is working with farmers and ranchers to communicate directly with consumers about how environmentally friendly beef is. As a result, the Des Moines Register published a guest column on Oct. 6 from Iowa cattle farmer Dave Petty, who invites readers to “get the facts about farmers.” In his column, next to a full-color photo from his ranch, Petty addressed common ranching and farming misperceptions that are featured in numerous recent films and news articles: “The fact is,” Petty wrote, “the farmers and ranchers I know want to do right by their land and their animals because we all want to hand down our business to future generations. The next time you hear an opinion about the way beef is raised, take the time to get the real story. And you are always welcome to visit us on the farm.” Click here for the full article.
