The checkoff’s Beef Innovations Group (BIG), which inspires beef-product innovation via provision of research and education efforts with industry influencers and stakeholders, certainly hasn’t been sitting down on the job. Between Oct. 1, 2008 and Aug. 30, 2009, BIG engaged in more than 115 industry meetings, in addition to distributing several industrywide electronic newsletters, making face-to-face industry visits, and operating the extensive new-product Web site. During Fiscal Year 2009, customers downloaded more than 40,000 documents from that site, as traffic to the site jumped 10 percent.
