The beef checkoff recognizes that today’s shoppers are avid mobile phone users and rarely leave home without taking their phone. That’s why the checkoff created Beef For Dinner, a free, mobile, streamlined version of the site consumers already know and love, BeefItsWhatsForDinner.com.
The mobile site also provides consumers with beef nutritional information and shopping tips. As one of the key benefits, the Beef for Dinner site will enable consumers to feel confident when shopping and preparing beef – equipping consumers with delicious and nutritious beef recipes wherever and whenever they need them.
“As producers making decisions where checkoff dollars are invested in an effort to drive demand for our product, we recognize that today’s consumer is demanding more information about the nutritional value of beef, and they want that information now," says Glenda Flora, dairy producer from Quinter, Kan., and chair of the industry’s Advertising Committee. “We’re all busy. Maybe we didn’t make the shopping list before we left the house. Maybe we just need inspiration by seeing a new beef recipe. Whatever the situation, the checkoff has a mobile solution to help consumers make that mealtime decision.”
It’s free to access expert-tested beef recipes, easy to use customized shopping lists and there’s no download necessary. Follow these 3 Easy Steps to Beef For Dinner Mobile:
- Step 1: Enter “beef for dinner” into your mobile web browser (it’s available for all carriers)
- Step 2: Search by a specific beef cut or recipe title
- Step 3: Log in to the Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner online community for direct access to your shopping lists at the store or prepare your favorite beef recipe with ease from your kitchen
“As the mother of seven children, I know what it’s like to stand in front of a meat case and wonder ‘What’s healthy that I can make for my family in 30 minutes or less?’” concludes Flora. “I think this shows that the checkoff is being proactive in meeting the needs of our end-users and ultimately, driving dollars back to the producers through increased beef sales.”
The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
