Evaluating The Checkoff
With the Beef Checkoff Program, there are many checks and balances to ensure that every dollar is spent wisely to increase beef demand and producer profitability. Dollars spent go toward wise investments such as research, education and promotion. Before money can be spent, however, it must be approved in a budget. And, when the project is complete, it must be audited to be sure the dollars were spent as planned. This “check-and-balance” system is an effective tool in keeping checkoff dollars working on behalf of cattle raisers.
