Tom Alger has seen the country over the years. He was born and raised in Artesia, California, before attending and graduating from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. After graduation, he owned and operated a calf-raising business but has been running his own dairy operation in Texas for the last 20 years. He has been active with the Dairy Farmers of America, where he has served in leadership for corporate resolutions. The Secretary of Agriculture appointed Tom to begin serving on the Beef Board in 2012.
