Leon Kreisler and his wife, Helen, operate a commercial cow-calf operation in Salem, Missouri, where they also background calves and raise replacement heifers. In 2007, they were recipients of the regional Environmental Stewardship Award and, in 2011, received the Governor's Award for Agricultural Achievements. Leon holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Missouri School of Mines and a master's degree from the University of Illinois, and is retired from upper management with a large energy corporation. He has also been quite active in the cattle industry, including service as a past chairman of the Missouri Beef Council and the Missouri Soil and Water Commission, as well as a past director/member of the Missouri Cattlemen's Association, the Missouri Farm Bureau, and the Missouri Forage & Grassland Council.
