Barbara Jacques (pronounced "Jakes") and her husband, Dave, run a cow-calf and stocker operation in Shidler, Oklahoma, where Dave’s family has ranched since 1906. She is a 32-year member of the American National CattleWomen, the Oklahoma CattleWomen, and the Osage County CattleWomen. She is a past president of the Oklahoma CattleWomen and the Osage County CattleWomen, and was named the 2011 Oklahoma Cattlewoman of the Year. She has served the industry extensively, on the board of the American National CattleWomen, as Region IV committee chair of consumer education, and as Beef Education Committee chair for ANCW. Barbara earned her bachelor's degree in education from Oklahoma State University; she taught school and worked for a private educational company as a teacher and curriculum specialist for 16 years. In summer 2011, she was selected to participate in the USDA Food, Land and People curriculum writing workshop, before beginning her first term on the Beef Board in 2012.
