Joe is owner and manager of Guthrie Farms, LLC., a family owned farm that dates back to 1795. He was nominated to the Beef Board by the Virginia Cattlemen's Association, for which he is a past president. Joe earned his bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and his master's degree in agricultural economics from Massey University in New Zealand. In addition to ranching, Joe serves as an instructor in the Agricultural Technology Program at Virginia Tech. He has also served on the Virginia Cattle Industry Board, the Virginia Cattlemen's Foundation, the Pulaski County Farm Bureau, the Southwest Virginia Agricultural Association, the Virginia Tech College of Agriculture Faculty Association, and the Virginia AgPAC.
