Kent is a third generation farmer/feedlot operator from Rock Valley, Iowa, where he also raises row crops and hogs. He was nominated to the Beef Board by the Iowa Cattlemen's Association. He is currently the president of the Iowa Cattleman’s Association, completing his second term. Kent also is a member of Farm Bureau and on the board of directors of Siouxland Energy & Livestock Cooperative (ethanol). Kent and his wife, Sylvia, have four children and five grandchildren.
