Kim Brackett is a multi-state cow-calf/stocker operator in California and Idaho, where she and her husband represent the fifth generation of his family on their ranch and the third generation of her family in ranching. She has been an active member with the Idaho Beef Council, having served as chair, vice chair and treasurer, as well as chairing its Beef Quality Assurance Advisory Board. In addition, Brackett chaired the education committee and the promotion subcommittee for the Idaho Cattle Association, and previously was a Federation of State Beef Councils director on the checkoff’s former Joint New Products and Culinary Initiatives and Joint Human Nutrition committees.During her first term on the Beef Board, Brackett served on the Joint Producer Education Committee, the Joint Evaluation Advisory Committee, and the CBB Bylaws Work Group. As secretary/treasurer in 2012 and vice chairman in 2013, she serves on the Beef Promotion Operating Committee, the CBB Executive Committee, and as a CBB representative on the Board of the U.S. Meat Export Federation. Separate from the Beef Board, Kim maintains the “Beef Matters” blog at beefmatters.com to help tell the beef story firsthand; is a former contributing writer for Progressive Cattleman magazine; previously served as a trustee on her local school and health boards; is as a literacy tutor; volunteers at her kids’ school; and enjoys riding, training dogs, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.
