Phyllis has lived in southwest Colorado all her life. She currently raises irrigated silage corn and alfalfa and owns shares in a surface water irrigation company. She and her husband purchase steer calves from October through March, winter them on their fields and in the feedlot and sell them in September. They have a small herd of purebred Salers cows and also feed a few calves for area ranchers in the winter. Phyllis is a member of the American Farm Bureau Federation, Colorado Farm Bureau (currently serves on the State Board of Directors), Arizona Farm Bureau, San Juan Basin Farm Bureau, NCBA, Colorado Cattlemen’s Association and Colorado Cattlewomen. She and her husband have four children and 10 grandchildren.
