Sid Sumner developed and conducted educational programs on beef cattle and forage management for 30 years as a University of Florida Extension Service professor in Polk County, from which he retired as Professor Emeritus. He has personal management experience with his own purebred and commercial beef cattle herds, is a Certified Artificial Insemination Technician, and is proficient in beef cattle palpation for pregnancy diagnosis. He has served on numerous boards, judged more than 300 cattle shows, and authored numerous industry articles and papers.
