Dan Hinman was born and raised on a diversified ranch in Bozeman, Mont. He received a master’s degree from Montana State University, and a master’s and PhD from Oklahoma State University, in beef cattle nutrition. Hinman was a professor of beef cattle nutrition at the University of Idaho from 1974 to 2002, and now continues the stocker feeder operation that he reinitiated in 1993. He is a member of the Idaho Cattlemen’s Association and past chairman of the Idaho Beef Council.
