O.D. Cope was born and raised on a large beef cattle business in Barry County, Missouri and resumed responsibility of the family’s operation when he was 15 years old, upon the death of his father. The Cope home farm has been in the family for about 95 years and includes cow-calf and backgrounding operations covering more than 4,000 acres, including 2,380 that the farm owns. The farm is often the site of prominent beef tours and has won numerous awards for production, performance, leadership and dedication to the genetic improvement of beef cattle.
