Wayne Buck was born and raised on a cattle ranch near Rifle, Colorado and earned a degree in animal husbandry/science from Colorado State University. He spent three years as a grader and cattle buyer for Armour & Co. before beginning 40 years in the retail grocery industry, retiring as district manager of Kroger. In the more than 10 years since then, he has been ranching in Ignacio, Colorado, where he raises registered Black Angus cattle. He has been active with the La Plata Cattlemen, Farm Bureau, and the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association.
