Charley Bassett has run a cow-calf farming operation with his wife, Barbara, for nearly 45 years. He also operates his own construction company, employing up to 15 full-time employees. Bassett is a member and past president of the Missouri Farm Bureau and the Missouri Beef Industry Council. He is also past president of the Dixon Lions Club and has served in leadership positions for his county Sewer Board of Trustees and Baptist Association Corporate Board and on advisory committees of one U.S. congressman and two U.S. senators.
