Ron Allen is an importer representative on the Beef Board and is chairman and CEO of American Foodservice. He started cutting meat when he was just 13 years old at his father’s IGA store in upstate New York. After high school and active service in the U.S. Army, he began working for Gino’s, Inc. until its manufacturing arm separated as American Foodservice in 1972. Since then, the company has grown from one plant doing 25 million pounds of ground beef annually to four plants manufacturing more than 400 million pounds of ground beef each year.
