Beef Board Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is made up of 11 members elected by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, including its three officers and another eight members elected at large. The immediate past chair of the Beef Board also serves on the committee as an ex-officio member, for advisory purposes. The Executive Committee operates under the direction of, and within the policies established by, the full board, and is responsible for carrying out Beef Board policies and conducting business and making the decisions necessary to administer the terms and provisions of the Act and Order between meetings of the full board.

The Executive Committee is made up of 11 members elected by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board.  The Executive Committee is held accountable to the Beef Board, producers, USDA and Congress, and is placed in a position of trust and confidence to:

  • Make decisions necessary to administer the terms of the Act and Order in the general interests of the beef industry, under the direction of the Beef Board and within the guidelines and policies established and approved by the Board.

  • Ensure that all decisions regarding the allocation, expenditure and governance of checkoff dollars are made in the general interests of the beef industry, and not for the benefit of any particular organization. As a result, the Executive Committee reviews all Opreating Committee actions to ensure they are consistent with the Beef Industry Long Range Plan and do no reflect undue influence from a contracting organization.

  • Oversee collection efforts of the Beef Board and qualified state beef councils to ensure national, uniform collection of the $1-per-head checkoff.
