Qualified checkoff contracting organizations are national nonprofit industry organizations in existence before enactment of the Beef Promotion and Research Act that established the national beef checkoff.  

The role of these organizations is to contract with the Beef Promotion Operating Committee to conduct promotion, research, consumer and industry information, foreign marketing, and producer communications programs funded with beef checkoff dollars and under Agricultural Marketing Service Guidelines. The Beef Board estimates that more than 100 organizations qualify to contract with the Operating Committee. American Farm Bureau, American Meat Institute, American National CattleWomen (ANCW), American Veal Association (AVA), Livestock Marketing Association, Meat Importers Council of America (MICA), national breed associations, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Federation Division, National Livestock Producers Association (NLPA), National Farmers Union and the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) are but a small sample of those eligible
