BEEF BOARD OFFICERS – LIVE ON RFD-TV!

Beef Checkoff will be in the spotlight this month on a live television broadcast.

(CENTENNIAL, Colo.)On April 28, Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) officers will be in Nashville, Tenn., to participate in a live broadcast of RFD-TV. CBB Chairman Dave Bateman, farmer-feeder from Oregon, Ill.., Vice-Chair Lucinda Williams, dairy producer from Hatfield, Mass., and Secretary/Treasurer Dan Dierschke, cow-calf operator from Austin, Texas, will open the evening with a checkoff overview hosted by WGN’s Max Armstrong and wrap up the 1-hour live session with a Q&A from the call-in audience.

“This is a wonderful opportunity not only for the officers to give an overview of The Beef Checkoff program, but it enables us to reach producers to inform them how their checkoff investments are being spent, and producers can ask questions of us in return,” says Bateman. “This opportunity helps us put a face on the CBB leadership and let producers know they really do have a voice.”

RFD-TV has a viewership of about 100,000 households for an average Monday night. If you miss the live show, there are two re-broadcasts – the following Tuesday morning, April 29 at 10 a.m. and Sunday, May 4 in an overnight time period – 3 a.m. eastern.

The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
